The Wabash College Little Giants defeated De Pauw 57 - 40 at De Pauw in early season basketball action. It was the first time that Wabash has beaten De Pauw at De Pauw since 1998. Once again De Pauw was undefeated until they had their game with the Little Giants.
The win kept Wabash undefeated through the first 7 games of the season, which is the best start for a Wabash basketball team since 1916. The team has kept rolling with a win in their first conference game and so now the team is 8 - 0 and ranked 13th nationally. A great start for the basketball team!
I will have to check with the bookstore about whether the Monon Bell game DVDs are in stock. I am looking forward to getting a copy for Christmas and watching over and over again.

Monon Bell Wipeout
“Utter jubilation” is a phrase used on the Class of 1997 blog to so accurately capture the feeling of the students, parents and alumni who were fortunate to be present for a 47 – 0 Wabash victory. The Little Giants literally ran over the DePauw Tigers with 498 yards in total offense (292 rushing, 206 passing) to DePauw’s 95 yards (11 rushing, 84 passing). The Wabash crowd was huge and energized. It was an exhilarating experience to be present for a game unequaled since the Wabash victory in 1952 (also 47 – 0).
One of my favorite quotes about this year's game came from a DPU radio broadcaster, who near the end of the game said something to the effect that "When the DVD of the game comes, it will not be coming out of the shrink wrap." On the other, I cannot wait to get a copy of this year's DVD. A great stocking stuffer.

Monon Bell Weekend
Wabash plays DePauw at Wabash for the Monon Bell. Wabash has a solid record at 7 wins and 2 losses (including last week's loss to Wittenberg for the conference title). DePauw is undefeated this season. Presumably, DePauw is the pre-game favorite, but then again this is the Monon Bell game.
Do you remember the Monon Bell game are freshman year? I recall that it was played at DePauw on a bitter cold day. It was also televised on ABC, which used to have the NCAA football broadcast rights. Under its contract with the NCAA, ABC had to broadcast one Division III game a season.
I am heading down to Crawfordsville, which will be third trip this fall to campus. Since I have lived in Michigan, I have not made more than one football game in a season and so this is a special year.
